On Wednesday, Littlejohn and Talltree have to serve
a warrant and search a house for drugs. When they arrive,
they walk to the porch and Littlejohn knocks on the door.
Littlejohn is munching on a candy bar. They hear nothing.
Littlejohn knocks again. He hears the clicking of the lock
tumblers as someone unlocks the door. He reaches down and
unclips the snap holding his gun in his holster. "Stand back
Talltree, I got it" As the door opens, Littlejohn sees that
there is nobody by the door. He draws his weapon. He yells
"Come out from behind that door with your hands up!" He hears
Talltree. "Shhh stop yelling"! Littlejohn looks down to see
Talltree inside the house coming out from behind the door.
He looks at Littlejohn with his hands up and tells him, "Don't
shoot you idiot"! "How the hell did you get inside"? Asks
Littlejohn. "I used the Doggie-Door, you loudmouth"! All of
a sudden, Littlejohn hears a growling sound. He looks down
to see a Rottweiller and it's frothing at the mouth! Littlejohn
turns to go inside the house, but Talltree has already beaten
him to it! Littlejohn takes a slow step toward the door
and
SLAM!
Talltree slams the door in Littlejohn's face! Then to add
insult to injury, Littlejohn hears the lock tumblers click!
Littlejohn, gun in one hand, and candy bar in the other, turns
to address the angry and more than likely, hungry pooch. He
points his gun at the dog and then shakes his head. He then
looks at the candy bar in his hand and has an idea. Breaking
off a little piece, he throws it to the dog. The dog gobbles
it up like Thanksgiving Supper! Littlejohn tells the dog to
sit, and it does! Littlejohn's new found friend just sits
there, licking his chops and wagging his tail. Littlejohn
tosses his canine crony another piece of the candy bar. The
dog is loving it. Littlejohn has an idea. He points to the
open side gate of the house and says, "Someone in the house,
Go get him, sikk him"! The anxious dog tears ass around the
corner. Littlejohn smiles. Moments later, there is a loud
barking coming from inside the house. He hears Talltree screaming
from within the house and the dog barking. The front door
swings open and Talltree runs from the house, with the dog
following close behind in pursuit. Talltree runs to the squad
car parked in front. He jumps in and locks the doors. Talltree
can be seen screaming from inside the car as the dog stands
guard. Littlejohn slips into the house and locks the front
door. He then locks the "Doggie Door", and calls animal control
from his cell phone to come and seize the dog. Littlejohn
goes on to execute his arrest and uncovers both a large quantity
of drugs and a cache of weapons in the process. As Littlejohn
is finishing up in the house, Talltree is ringing the doorbell.
The Animal Control officer has the pooch "In Custody". Littlejohn
opens the front door and walks out, the homeowner cuffed and
in tow. Talltree explodes, "Boy, you are really something!
That dog almost killed me"! Littlejohn looks toward the street
and acts alarmed, "Look Out! The dog is loose again"! Talltree
runs behind Littlejohn and hides.
On Thursday, the two have to investigate a robbery
at a Motel. They arrive at the Motel and go into the lobby.
They walk over to the front desk and Littlejohn rings the
little bell on the counter. The Manager comes out of a back
room. He identifies himself as the Manager and asks how he
can help. Littlejohn leans on the counter and ID's himself
as Detective Littlejohn and "my partner is Max Talltree" The
manager quizzically looks at Littlejohn. He tells the Manager
that he and his partner are investigating the robbery. The
Motel Manager tells Littlejohn that two guys came into the
hotel and made him lay on the floor and took all the money
in the register. The Manager hears Talltree's voice but sees
nobody. "What time did this occur?" The Manager looks at Littlejohn.
"Huh?" The Manager replies. Littlejohn is tight-lipped. Talltree
repeats himself again. The manager is looking directly at
Littlejohn, but doesn't see his lips moving. The manager smiles.
"Oh I get it! You are one of those ventriloquist dudes"? Littlejohn
looks at him. "What"? He says. "Hey, I always wanted to learn
how to make my voice do that"! Replies the Manager. "Do what"?
Exclaims Littlejohn.
Talltree steps out from behind the counter. "Oh come on Littlejohn,
let's go. This guy's an idiot." The manager is startled, and
says, "Oh look, he's a midget!" Littlejohn senses trouble
looming on the horizon at the Manager's last remark. "Oh god",
mumbles Littlejohn. Talltree leaps up on a chair-then up on
top of the counter. He points his finger into the Managers
face and says, "How tall were you when those crooks had you
laying face down on the floor, you moron"? Littlejohn and
Talltree exit the Motel office. The manager hears the doors
on the squad car close and then he hears it drive away. He
quickly closes down the motel office and races to his own
car. He jumps in, and speeds away. The manager gets right
on his cell phone and calls someone. "Hello. Yeah
the
cops just came and asked me some questions..I had em fooled..they
don't suspect that we pulled off that heist at the motel.
I'll call you later." The manager closes the cell phone. He
hears someone say, "I suspected you all along you creep."
He looks in the rear view mirror and sees Talltree standing
up behind him on the back floor of the car. He is startled,
and slams on the brakes of the car, almost ramming a parked
car. Talltree says, "Don't move." As he climbs over the seat.
He stands on the seat next to the manager. The manager turns
and tries to open his door and run, but it won't budge. Littlejohn
leans in and says, "Going somewhere"? Talltree reaches over,
swiping the manager's cell phone, and says, "Don't you know
it's illegal to hold a cell phone while you're driving"? Littlejohn
chimes in, "He's not wearing his seatbelt either." Talltree
says, "And..he drove like a maniac and almost killed me"!
Talltree looks at the cell phone. "The last number you dialed
would be that of your accomplice, right"? The manager confesses
to everything, and names his accomplice, another manager at
the motel.
